GEM SATIN LUSTROUS SURFACES. TIED WITH TWO OTHER COINS FOR HIGHEST GRADED. Similar in rarity to the 1884-S, the 1885-S is another 1880s Double Eagle that enjoys a strong following among type collectors. Although a relatively large number of Uncirculated coins have survived - the issue does not appear to have seen widespread circulation - survivors seldom grade finer than MS-63.
