A popular issue for type purposes, the 1884-CC has a relatively generous surviving population from an original mintage of 81,139 pieces. Most examples offered in today's market, however, grade no finer than MS-61. MS-62s are scarce, MS-63s are extremely rare and the issue is currently unknown in higher grades. Additionally, the 1884-CC is more elusive than the 1874-CC, 1875-CC, 1876-CC and 1890-CC in terms of total number of coins believed to have survived.
