1881 $20 PCGS MS60

The 1881 is the first of a run of seven ultra-low mintage Philadelphia Mint issues. A scant mintage of 2,199 Liberty double eagles were struck and all entered circulation. Rare issue across all grade levels with only a few dozen estimated survivors. Across all grading services only six have been graded finer than the present offering! The fields display a gleaming prooflike effect on both sides, undoubtedly because of the small mintage. Well-detailed with minimal contact marks considering the grade and nothing that individually draws the eye or distracts for the overall impressive eye appeal.
