Only 1794 medals were struck with the Privy Mark, a nod to the year 1794 when the Flowing Hair Silver Dollars were first minted. This set marks the 230th anniversary of the first dollar coin ever issued by the United States, the Flowing Hair Dollar. The Coinage Act of 1792, passed by Congress, established the U.S. Mint and regulated coinage to specific denominations and contents. Thus, the U.S. adopted a standard monetary unit in the dollar and the first Flowing Hair Silver Dollars were struck in 1974.
