Description
A condition census rarity with just three finer examples recorded at PCGS, only two of which are CAC approved, making this a top three coin! The low mintage of 1,100 pieces was mostly caused by the sudden and rapid increase in silver prices, causing the mint to adjust the weight of all silver coins the following year, which is why many of the 1853 denominations had a design change (e.g. arrows and rays). This rarity somehow survived unscathed and uncleaned and is solidly positioned as one of the best. Beautiful gold and peach toning dominates with sky blues and sea foam greens gracing the peripherals. Flashy luster screams throughout as it enhances the bold details. Worthy of the PCGS plus-grade and CAC sticker, this is a fantastic example of a rare date. We note a small chip in the reverse edge rail of the holder. - Liberty Seated Dollar
