VERY CHOICE IRIDESCENT TONED SURFACES. WELL STRUCK. 2 LEAVES VARIETY. The Philadelphia Mint employed 19 obverse and 21 reverse dies to deliver 299,680 Half Dollars bearing the 1795 date. This is the second of only two issues in the Flowing Hair Half Dollar series, and examples are much more plentiful in today's market than those of the 1794 delivery. Still, the 1795 is a strong performer at all levels of preservation, primarily due to extreme type collector pressure. Variety specialists will also find the 1795 Half Dollar an engaging issue, as a sizeable total of 32 die marriages have been reported. Finally, investors should take note of the conditionally rare status of Mint State survivors.
