This coin was minted in San Francisco and has a mintage of 3,724,000. History and Description Designed by German-American engraver and sculptor Adolphe A. Weinman, the 1946-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar coin sports a reeded edge and has a diameter of 30.00mm. It weighs 12.50g and features a composition of 90% silver and 10% copper. This coin’s obverse side shows a full-length view of Liberty as she strides toward the horizon with the sun in view. One arm is outstretched as the other holds branches of laurel and oak, symbols of American glory. Weinman’s design artistry is evident in lovely details like Liberty’s flowing hair and gown. The word ‘Liberty’ appears above her head while the year of issue appears below her. This side of the coin also features the motto, ‘In God We Trust.’ The reverse side of the 1946-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar coin features the image of a bald eagle perched on its mountain cliff. Its wings are spread as if it’s ready to take flight. A pine sapling grows from its perch. The coin also features the words ‘United States of America.’ The denomination appears beneath the eagle.
