Description
PCGS authenticated and graded XF Details. Glossy chocolate brown, the reverse a few shades lighter than the obverse. The obverse was lightly burnished and expertly retoned, and the eye appeal of this cent is excellent. There is minor roughness in a small area left of the lowest curl; the remainder of the planchet is smooth. Just minor marks including a dull nick or scuff on the R in LIBERTY and a small chip near the dentils before the eye. M-LDS, Breen state IV, with a fine radial die crack from the dentils through the T in LIBERTY. Tied for CC#5 in the Noyes census, his photo #22179. Bland says tied for CC#2, and the top half dozen in his census all have significant defects and are net graded. This cent previously was housed in an older version PCGS holder graded XF40 (PCGS label #1401.40/4436682).
