Description
This listing is for a 1954 NGC MS66+FBL FS-402 Bugs Bunny Die Clash Franklin Half Dollar. This is surely one of the more interesting of the obverse die clash Franklin's. The population report at one of the major graders is a bit watered down by the inclusion of ultra late die states and other factors. The problem is also compounded by the fact that the Cherry Picker guide's poor and non-existent imagery leaves a bit of ambiguity, which was not helped by the anemic 2 year late release of the 6th Edition Volume II that seems to have just removed more varieties than it added.
The actual rarity of an early die state 1954 FS-402 simply can't be overstated and is reflected more accurately by NGC's population report since they require an exact early die state match to attribute the variety and very few have been graded. This example is the sole finest known at both PCGS and NGC at the time of listing. The coin itself has a wonderful mint set toned blue, bronze, and russet pattern. The eye appeal on this one is fantastic. The coin pictured is the coin you will receive. The close up of the clash is also from the coin you will receive. Please see the pics for details. Thanks for looking!
