1961 D/D NGC MS66FBL FS-501 RPM-001 VP-001 Full Bell Lines Franklin Half Dollar

This listing is for a 1961 D/D NGC MS66FBL FS-501 Repunched Mint Mark Franklin Half Dollar. Brilliant blast white with outstanding strike and eye appeal. Very scarce date in general, but the first offering of this variety in this state of preservation. This variety was just given a citation number FS-501 by the popular "Cherrypickers' Guide" 6th edition volume 3 Half Dollars through Philippine coinage. After the disastrous release of the "updated" volume 2 that came 2 years late, removed more varieties than it added, and skipped Half Dollars and up; it is no surprise that this latest release gained absolutely no fanfare. For that reason neither PCGS nor NGC attributes this variety with the Cherry Picker number yet but it is attributed with the VP-001 designation that is the same as CONECA RPM-001, which is the same as FS-501.
