1867 5C PCGS/CAC PR63 (Rays) - Shield Nickel

This coin is one of an estimated 40-50 struck coins and has been considered a prized rarity by numismatists for over 100 years. It is also listed as a Top 100 coin in the popular reference book on that subject. Appealing tan tones form a tiger-stripe toning pattern across both sides, attesting to the original untouched nature of this piece. The toning is paired with liquid mirrors and lightly frosted devices, creating a partially cameo appearance. Overall, a very appealing example and a tremendously rare issue, even more so with CAC approval. This piece is bested by only 9 at CAC. We note a few reverse edge rail chips. - Shield Nickel
