Description
The US Mint produced 25 proof Gold Dollars in 1873, all featuring the closed 3 reverse variety. A rare coin in any respect, no DCAM examples exist, and just three coins have qualified for CAM. The present coin boasts semi-cameo surfaces, which are modestly hindered by grade-consistent handling marks and some weakness in the design frost. Well-defined throughout and flashy, the eye appeal is great for the grade. One of the most affordable examples that can be found of the date, this piece is a great opportunity. This issue rarely comes to auction and will be followed by series specialists. - Gold Dollar
