This 1869 quarter (J-731) is a remarkable piece of pattern coinage reflecting a fascinating period of experimentation in U.S. Mint history. Patterns like this represent test designs or compositions, often produced in limited numbers, making them highly sought after.

Struck in aluminum with a reeded edge, this is one of our namesake coins - a Rarity 7 with less than 6 known surviving examples.
