Unc (11: 4,3,4) RD. DDR FS-1801. This is a very rare and dramatic variety with doubling on the ONE CENT on the reverse. It is fully struck, but has a dramatic strike-though on the obverse making the date and the SW half of the legend uneven. The otherwise is very attractive with very few marks. Importantly, this is one the few examples graded Mint State and the only example graded full red. There are two obverse dies paired with this doubled die reverse. This is the earliest die state and the only example known from this die pair. This is detailed in the Attribution Guide and pages from that reference are in the images. An all-you-need-to-know article was feature in Longacre's Ledger in August 2024. This example comes originally from the Larry R. Steve collection, it was sold Through Eagle Eye to Stewart Blay. It sold in the Blay collection by Great Collections 11/23 for $7,031. Ned Livornese collection, presented here.
