STUNNING CONDITION RARITY!
This is an important—and quite rare—opportunity for the advanced collector of this desirable series, one that is rich with challenges at this grade level. This specimen presents fully brilliant surfaces with booming Mint luster and a razor-sharp strike. A few inconsequential surface marks on each side do not detract from the overall quality of this superior Gem piece. From 2001 to 2024, there have been only nine auction appearances of the 1864 Seated dollar graded PCGS MS65—and only two of those have been awarded the prestigious green CAC sticker.
David Bowers writes: "Silver dollars of the 1864 year did not circulate domestically, and their rarity today is explained by the fact that most were exported." In fact, their bullion value that year was $1.04, which made them desirable for the China trade. However, some did circulate in the Old West, where paper money was scorned and never used. PCGS has graded only 32 of this issue in mint state. This coin has excellent investment potential, for there will always be a market for a Condition Rarity Seated Liberty Dollar.
