Description
1829 Mint Error Bust Half dollar, PCGS Genuine, Scratch, Fine Details, Struck 25% Off Center. Although this amazing coin is struck a bit too far off center for us to be absolutely sure of its attribution - which, by the way, is something that can honestly be said about an incredibly small group of Bust halves - we are pretty certain that O.112 is the correct call. For error collectors, the coin is a wonder. The date is full, and presented front and darn near center! The die edge can be clearly seen and studied, and the "open collar", whatever that was, can be studied to whatever degree possible...whatever evidence it may have left is going to be here, as the unstruck portion of the planchet was certainly resting comfortably upon it. The coin isn't perfect, since someone (or someones) tested it in rudimentary ways over the generations - those were our ancestors, folks - but it remains one heck of an impressive, important, and extremely rare piece of US Mint history that you can own, study and enjoy.
