Description
ORANGE LUSTROUS SURFACES ADORN THIS DAHLONEGA RARITY. JUST FIVE COINS GRADED HIGHER AT PCGS. In terms of total number of coins believed extant, the 1846-D is very similar in rarity to the 1847-D and 1848-D. Rarer than both of these deliveries in AU and Mint State grades, the 1846-D is also more elusive than the 1843-D, 1844-D and 1857-D at those levels of preservation. When offered in today's market, the '46-D is apt to grade no finer than EF. Strictly Mint State survivors are believed to number just four or five coins.
