Judging by the number of coins thta have survived, and the fact that no Quarters were struck in 1816 or 1817, most of the coins struck in 1818 probably bore that date. The 1818 is the most frequently encountered Capped Bust, Large Size Quarter in today's market. The majorty of survivors are circulated, however, and the issue is rare in Mint State. Demand from high-grade type collectors keeps the supply of atractive 1818 Quarters at very low levels in the market.
