Description
TYPE 2. GEM LUSTROUS SURFACES. ONLY ISSUED FOR TWO YEARS. JUST 9 COINS GRADED HIGHER AT NGC. The 1854 is the premier issue in the Type II Gold Dollar series, and one of only two delivered in the Philadelphia Mint. Along with the 1855, the 1854 is the most frequently encountered Gold Dollar of this type in today's market. Examples, however, are rare from a market availability due to extremely strong demand from type collectors and investors. This is particularly true of Mint State survivors, which seldom remain on the open market for long.
