POINTED 6 WITH STEM. ONLY 3 COINS GRADED HIGHER AT NGC. O-118a. RARITY-3. The early United States Mint struck more Half Dollars in 1806 than it did in any other year from 1794-1806. It is likely that most of the 839,576 pieces struck that year were actually dated 1806. Indeed, this is one of the more plentiful Draped Bust Half Dollars in an absolute sense, although there are some very scarce and rare die marriages that enjoy strong demand among specialized collectors. There are 19 die marriages for the Pointed 6, Stem Guide Book variety. Only O-115 can be described as common, and O-110, O-122, O-124, O-126, O-127 and O-128 are actually among the rarest die varieties in the Draped Bust Half Dollar series.
