Description
GEM LUSTROUS SURFACES ENHANCED WITH A LIGHT AMBER/BLUISH PATINA. JUST TWO COINS GRADED HIGHER AT PCGS. CAC. One of our favorite issues in the Morgan Dollar series, the 1885-CC has the extremely good fortune of being a product of the fabled Carson City Mint. Additionally, the original mintage is a mere 228,000 pieces. Few of those coins entered circulation, and the 1885-CC is actually one of the rarest Morgan Dollars in worn condition. Mint State examples, however, are readily otbainable thanks to the fact that 148,000 pieces were included in the Treasury Department hoard. The CC-mint Silver Dollars in that hoard were eventually dispersed by the General Services Administration (GSA).
