Description
8X5 STARS. NICE LUSTROUS PLANCHET. LESS THAN 100 SPECIMENS BELIEVED TO EXIST TODAY IN ALL GRADES. ONLY TWO COINS GRADED HIGHER AT PCGS. There is only a single die marriage known for the rare 1806/4 Quarter Eagle with the obverse stars arranged eight left, five right. The estimated mintage for this variety is a mere 1,136 pieces, and survivors are believed to number only 75-90 coins in all grades. Although priced similarly to the final-year 1807 in many numismatic references, the 1806/4, Stars 8x5 is a much rarer issue that is among the more underrated Capped Bust Right Quarter Eagles.
