Description
WELL STRUCK WITH LUSTROUS SURFACES. ONLY 2,710 STRUCK. LESS THAN 151 KNOWN TO EXIST TODAY IN ALL GRADES. An extremely popular issue, the 1808 is the only Quarter Eagle to display John Reich's Capped Bust Left design. The designer himself engraved a single pair of dies for this issue, and the Mint used them to strike just 2,710 pieces. This entire mintage was delivered on February 26, 1808. Today, the 1808 Quarter Eagle is an extremely rare coin, and there are probably no more than 125-150 coins extant in all grades.
