1812 $5 PCGS AU58

A lovely example of this Capped Bust Half Eagle with copious amounts of remaining luster. Nice and frosty, which is unusual for such a grade. The strike leaves much to be desired, especially on the reverse, but this is not an unusual artifact for the date. Still, the luster drives the grade and it indeed remains a solid slider. Olive-gold hues abound, anchoring the honey-gold surfaces.
