Description
This 1856-S $2.50 Liberty Head is among the early San Francisco quarter eagles. With a warm golden-yellow base animated by vibrant mint frost and softly semi-reflective fields, the surfaces remain smooth and fully intact, and the luster delivers a steady, engaging cartwheel. Visually and technically, the coin stands apart from the typically subdued survivors of the issue. PCGS lists the date at $7,500 with a population of 10 at the grade and 12 higher, while CAC matches the $7,500 guide and reports just a single example approved at this level, with 10 finer. No CAC example in any grade has sold within the past 8 years except an AU58 PCGS CAC for $3,600 02/2023 GC.
